Christmas 2007

Dear All -

Just a note to wish all my clients a very Happy Christmas, and a good start to the New Year.
To those who sent me cards - thanks!

Although I will be checking my emails and answering machine from time to time, the Mac Doctor
has sent the elves home for the year, and will be re-opening the doors to Mac Doctor Towers
on wednesday 02 january 2008. If I can resolve any emergencies that come in, I will try to help,
but all non-urgent work will have to wait until the 2nd.

It's been a good year for Apple, and a good year for the Mac Doctor. Apple have released the
latest excellent iMacs (thin and fast), the iLife and iWorks suites, the new iPods, and, of
course the iTouch iPod and the wonderful iPhone. OS X 10.5 - Leopard - is now out and its
getting mostly positive reviews. I haven't moved to Leopard yet (I expect to in early 2008) but
new machines now have it loaded and it works fine. I don't have an iPhone either (tho' a number
of you do - it's on the wrong carrier for me). On the other hand, I am now well settled in my
office - surrounded by manuals, computers (I count 17 at the present - in various states of
repair), cables, supplier invoices, books, and desks - with, tonight, several client machines
being investigated (2 disk failures, and one PRAM battery). I've lost count of the number of
new computers that I have set up this year - the latest one went to one of you this morning -
but I do remember the oldest machine I worked on - a Mac SE, 17 years old and still going strong!

Website advice, construction and maintenance is a developing strand of work - but unless it's
very simple you'll have to design it yourself - or use a fellow client web designer.

Thank you for all the work, and for the kindnesses, hospitality, cups of tea, bowls of soup,
and the payments of my invoices. I've enjoyed the year, and look forward to being of service
in 2008.
